IF she is not on a stage, Jessica Mauboy wants to feel the sand and water between her toes.

While she gets to the beach near her Sydney base or back home in Darwin as much as possible, Mauboy dreams of planning a holiday with her boyfriend Themeli Magripilis.

It won’t be happening any time soon with her big gig at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony coming up in August and a raft of other high-profile gigs.

But if she could fly away tomorrow, she would head to one of her top two destinations, Vanuatu or Greece.

“I love Vanuatu, and I’m always dreaming of going back there,” she said.

“And I definitely want to go back to Greece, an island called Kalymnos. It’s where Themeli’s family originate from and live. “We have been planning to go this year again if there’s a gap, but otherwise definitely next year. “We’ll see, because I haven’t had a holiday in a good two or three years.”

The Qantas Friend said she was going to have to do more travelling to build up her frequent flyer points again after using them to take Magripilis to Copenhagen to join her at the Eurovision Song Contest.

And the rest will help take her father Ferdy with her to Glasgow to celebrate her big moment on the Commonwealth Games stage, which is expected to be watched by one billion people globally.

It also happens to be her 25th birthday and Mauboy was determined to be able to share it with family.

“Dad is such a sporty guy, still running around with his soccer team in Darwin,” she said.

“I am so excited to be taking dad this time with me, I cannot wait to share that moment with him.

“But yeah, that’s it, all the frequent flyers are gone again.”
